AEC MTRR billed $2,125 for a 13.3-mile trip from one hospital to the ER of another hospital. No life support services were needed or provided. Then AECMTRR left me stranded in the emergency room overnight. Their bill, for the 15-mile return trip, was $2,045. (That’s right, the longer trip was cheaper.)
My insurance carrier paid AEC MTRR $543.15 for the ride to the ER. I was billed for the balance of $1581.85. My insurance carrier paid AEC MTRR $1, 092.25 for the return trip. I was billed for a balance of $952.75. My bill totaled $2,534.60 for the two rides.
Both AECMTRR rides were in Loudoun County, VA.
On January 15, 2014, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved a new Chapter of the Codified Ordinances to establish the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Transport Reimbursement Program.
The Board directed that Loudoun's fee structure be based on the current market but no higher than 10% over the highest comparable neighboring jurisdiction. The specified fee limits are: $467 for Basic Life Support, $660 for Advanced Life Support I and $770 for Advanced Life Support II.
AECMTRR was paid, in full, by my insurance carrier, and then demanded another $2,534.60.
This place was terrible the ambulance took several hours and went to the wrong pickup spot, they then proceeded to start making animals sounds when they were providing shitty care for my wife, they then forgot all her stuff at the hospital and made us drive an hour there and back just to pick it up.
